Help make this fabulous day of activities, networking, and fun a success! We are looking for 50 volunteers to help with responsibilities such as general information, attendee arrival and setup, registration, social event services, etc. Although previous volunteer experience is not required, people with technology experience may be requested to volunteer in very specific positions. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.
Colorado TechFair Volunteer Descriptions
Information Package Assembly: Help to assemble information packages with materials about the event. Volunteers should be able to stand for long periods of time.
Display and Safety: Perform the initial Display and Safety inspection of Participants' projects before they are judged at the Colorado TechFair. The training for this group takes place on Saturday prior to the fair.
Tools and Supplies: Assist the Participants with both set-up and teardown of their projects by providing tools, supplies, and local equipment contact information. As part of this group's duties, these volunteers will manage an inventory of hand/power tools and supplies, unpack and inventory the tools and supplies and re-pack the tools and supplies.
Reception Volunteers: Assist with collecting judges' comments and scoring cards and assist in distribution of refreshments for the Participants at the Participants Reception.
Receiving Volunteers: Staff the Receiving desk at the Exhibit Hall. Duties include receiving and delivery of Participants' projects and components, receiving and delivery of fair related material and equipment along with, at designated times, assisting fair participants as they unload projects from their vehicles.
Registration Computer Entry: Interact with judges, teachers, chaperones, and students to complete the registration process. Enter the participants' information into the database using a computer. Need to have computer data entry skills.
Registration Assistant: Interact with judges, teachers, chaperones, and students to complete the registration process. Help the data entry person prepare the name badges, handing the conference bags to participants, answer questions, etc.
Registration Runner: Interact with judges, teachers, chaperones, and students to complete the registration process. Help transfer event supplies to the appropriate destinations, and fill in if breaks are needed by other registration area volunteers.
Open Fair Assistants: Assist students during the fair display hours. Act as chaperones and ensure that students are displayed projects in safe and calm manners. Answer questions from general public visitors about the event.
Facility Greeters: Will be stationed around the Colorado TechFair Facility to greet students and guests and provide directions and other information.
Floater Volunteer: Fill in at various volunteer positions as necessary.
Social Events Assistance: During the fair there are several social events hosted by OpenWorld Learning. Volunteers who sign up for these events will provide assistance as needed, such as ticket collection, greeting, and other duties. The on-site staff person for each social event should be directing the volunteers accordingly.
Volunteer Captain: Ensure that each duty scheduled for the shift is filled. Responsible for assigning floater volunteers as necessary and for communicating any problems to the Volunteer Coordinator.
Volunteer Lounge Assistance: Staff the lounge area established for volunteers. Food and beverage will be provided to volunteers at various times throughout the day. Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with checking in volunteers and answering phones or performing other duties.
